Moon light

After the beautiful sun set, Clavellina welcomes a deep night, accompanied by a few street lights if we are lucky to have electricity, or a moon light if the moon is fully visible. One evening, I went to a nearby Colmado (mini-grocery store) with my neighbors, 9-year old Yilada and her 6-year old sister, Barbara. There was no electricity that night. We watched the full moon that was guiding our way from afar above while we walked a short distance. Barbara said,
“Cuando nosotros caminamos, la luna camina con nosotros.” (“When we walk, the moon walks with us.”)
“Se llama, acompañarnos,” (“That’s called, accompany,”) responded Yilda.

They were so right. I enjoyed an excitement of small discovery as I walked observing the moon with my mouth open.
